Abstract [eng] The aim of this article is to discuss and analyse the factors that influence the decision-making of judges in criminal cases. The subject of this paper is the emotional state of the judge, his/her thinking, professional experience, procedural deadlines in criminal proceedings. The research shows that the laws of the Republic of Lithuania do not cover all the factors that can and do influence judges in the process of decision-making in criminal cases. Accordingly, such factors relate to the workload of judges, the judge‘s psychological state, professional experience. The paper concludes that, despite the high ethical standards applied to judges, their objectivity is influenced by their professional experience, workload and stress, which requires additional attention to their psycho-emotional health and working conditions.
