This article discusses the specifics of the contemporary Polish youth language in the Vilnius region, specifically its sociolectal variety. In Polish literature, terms such as jargon, argot, professional and community dialects, sociolect, slang, young speech. The Vilnius youth are aware of the diversity of the Polish language and acknowledge the existence of a distinct, youth-specific variety of Polish in Lithuania. The linguistic material presented in this article captures a fleeting moment, and the environmental vocabulary described is, for today’s students, a testament to the past. However, we cannot completely abandon the analysis of previously collected linguistic material. Many names and expressions still exist today. The mechanisms for creating slang vocabulary in this area are relatively stable and may remain unchanged in the future. |
