Abstract [eng] |
The aim of this dissertation was to analyze the prevalence of stressors and traumatic events, the structure of adjustment disorder, and identify risk factors of adjustment disorder in the general population in Lithuania. Analysis of adjustment disorder in this study was based on the proposals for the upcoming ICD-11. Self-report measures were used to measure stressful experiences, adjustment disorder symptoms, and posttraumatic stress symptoms. In total 831 adults from the general population participated in this cross-sectional study. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was used for analysis of adjustment disorder structure. Study results revealed that the majority of the Lithuanian general population experienced at least one stressful life event during the last two years. Analysis supported the two-factor adjustment disorder structure as it was proposed for the ICD-11 definition. Several risk factors of adjustment disorder, including exposure to chronic stressors, intrusion symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder, and sociodemographic factors (female gender and lower education) were identified. |
