Abstract [eng] 67 pages, 4 tables, 7 pictures, 159 references The aim of this work is to examine and evaluate the impact of AML (Anti-Money Laundering) regulation on the FinTech sector. The work consists of three main parts: an analysis of scientific literature, including a review of relevant research and legislation; a description of the research methodology; and the empirical research followed by conclusions. In the first part, an analysis of scientific literature, related studies, and legislation is conducted to reveal the context of AML regulation challenges and their impact on the FinTech sector. First, the essential aspects of money laundering and AML regulation are examined. Subsequently, the concept of FinTech is reviewed, highlighting the advantages of the sector and the threats it poses regarding AML compliance. Relevant academic research concerning the impact of AML regulation is then summarized. The second part of the work describes the research methodology, including the research procedure, stages, and sampling. The methodology was chosen based on the analyzed data and the formulated hypotheses. To gain a deeper understanding of the impact of AML regulation and to test these hypotheses, the empirical research follows a quantitative design, specifically applying the event study methodology. The third part comprises the empirical research, which was conducted in four main stages: 1) identification of regulatory events; 2) sample selection; 3) execution of the event study; and 4) comparative analysis of FinTech companies versus traditional banks.
