The diplomatic practices and formats of Byzantium, its impact on the changes of state power are analyzed in this paper. The theoretical part consists of: the definition of the concept of diplomacy; the importance of diplomatic practice and formats analysis; classical realism; the theory of offshore balancing and decline. The empirical part consists of a short overview of Byzantine, French and US diplomatic practice, its history. The aim of the paper is to uncover how the changes in state power, in this case - decline, is portrayed in diplomatic practices and formats. The whole historical context of diplomacy is analyzed. |
