Abstract [eng] The Picture of Woman in the Elegies of Propertius and Tibullus The Image of a Woman in Propertius and Tibulus elegies Summary The objects of this thesis are the elegies of Propercijus and Tibulus. The six main traits of the woman within the Roman love elegy are explored in this work. Positive traits: loyalty, love, and inspiration given to the poet-lover. Negative traits: disloyalty, anger, and control of the poet. Through this the relationships of the elegy mistress and the elegy lover are revealed, as well as the importance in the creative work of poets. The analysis reveals that elegy lovers-poets do with their beloved women whatever they want: they speak through their mistresses’s lips, making them said that every man wants to hear. They accused them of disloyalty, greediness and indifferance, kill them and then make them suddenly return. However, it is important to recognize that in elegy woman rule man’s world, even when poets-lovers try to keep distance from them. Puella is a poetic construction, yet creativiness and talent of the poet are revealed through her image.
