Abstract [eng] The topic of the BMA thesis is Circumflex metatony and the tone of secondary diphtongs in the spoken language: the case of Lithuanian compounds and prefixed be- derivatives. The purpose of the survey was to reveal regularities of circumflex metatony and the tone of secondary diphtongs in the spoken Lithuanian youth language. The survey has two goals: 1) to investigate the regularities of circumflex metatony and tone of secondary diphtong in the Lithuanian language; 2) determine, how much the tone depends on the base word‘s accent paradigm. According to the material gained from the two questionnaires, the following regularities of the circumflex metatony of the derived nouns, used in the spoken Lithuanian language, were found: The circumflex metatony simply takes place in compounds of the second component, of which belongs to the third accentuation paradigm. This regularity was confirmed by statistics (the circumflex metatony was registered 572 times out of 877): u = 9,15, i.e. 9,15 > 3,29. When the second component of the compounds belongs to the first accentuation paradigm, the circumflex metatony is rare. This regularity was confirmed by statistics (the circumflex metatony was registered 91 time out of 510). Similar regularities characteristic of the derivatives with prefix be- too. The circumflex metatony is regular, when base words of the prefixed derivatives belong to the third accentparadigm (374 positive answers out of 520), u = 14,44, i.e. 14,44 > 3,29. When the base word belongs to the first accent paradigm, the circumflex is not statistically significant. Secondary diphthongs are ususally stressed by acute in Lithuanian language. The research revealed, that Lithuanians (18-25 years old) mostly use circumflex, when they stress secondary diphthongs (1446 circumflex times out of 2337), u = 11,6, i.e. 11,6 > 3,29.
