Abstract [eng] The subject of the master‘s thesis – the relationship of listeners from different generations with radio and their radio listening experiences in Lithuania. The objective of the thesis – to analyze radio listening experiences characteristic of different generations in Lithuania and to reflect on how these experiences are revealed in the context of the centenary of Lithuanian radio. The tasks of the thesis – analyze the functioning of radio as a medium within a high-choice media environment and in the context of a hybrid media system; analyze the development of radio and its adaptation to processes of digitalization and media convergence; reveal the significance of radio for the information awareness of Lithuanian residents, the (self-)formation of opinions, and social interaction with others; examine the differences and/or similarities in radio listening experiences among generations in Lithuania within the context of a high-choice media environment. In order to analyze the radio listening experiences of different generations, the development of radio, its transformation, and its role in the contemporary media system, this paper examines scholarly literature that reviews the processes of a high-choice media environment and a hybrid media system, radio’s adaptation to digitalization, and its influence on public opinion formation. A qualitative research method was chosen for the study – focus group discussions with different generations. The research analyzes informants’ experiences, revealing their listening habits and the role of radio in their lives across different periods. Based on the research results, the paper highlights differences and similarities between generational experiences and discusses the interaction of radio with other media. It was found that although radio currently operates within a hybrid media system, it retains its importance in informing the public during crises, disasters, or war, and is considered a trustworthy medium that remains significant in shaping listeners’ opinions, as radio, having transformed into a multi-platform content medium, maintains the ability to deliver information objectively and reliably.
