Abstract [eng] Overall, this thesis shows that plant-based interventions or treatment potentials may support arthritis management primarily as adjuncts. The strongest and most consistent evidence in osteoarthritis can be found for preparations such as Curcumin / Turmeric and Boswellia, that improve pain and physical function. In rheumatoid arthritis the best evidence supports curcumin as an add-on for symptom and inflammatory marker improvement. Other candidates remain less established and in the case of e.g. Tripterygium even with substantial safety caution. In systemic lupus erythematosus the clinical evidence is comparatively limited and heterogenous. Some herbal approaches are focusing on lupus nephritis and small trials of single compounds show promising signaling, but they are insufficient for firm recommendations, especially looking at joint-specific outcomes. Across all three diseases, a meaningful benefit depends on using standardized, clinically studied products, a careful monitoring and attention to safety and herb-drug interactions.
