Abstract [eng] The goal of this paper is to go through the differential pathophysiology of peripheral Spondyloarthropathies (pSpA) and fibromyalgia (FM) (the subject of peripheral and axial Spondyloarthropathies (axSpA) will be discussed in this extended literary review, but the emphasis mostly being on the pSpA which might present itself in the form of enthesitis; a crucial symptom to be distinguished from the widespread pain present in fibromyalgia), as well as going through the differential diagnoses under the umbrella term, inflammatory Spondyloarthropathies (SpA). After the author has done this by using current and reliable sources, the paper aims to show the differences in these two broader categories and the pitfalls that a clinician can fall into when diagnosing the patient. After all of this has been conducted, the paper turns its aim towards the usage of currently available indices and radiological tools (such as ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the differentiating of spondyloarthropathies from fibromyalgia, mostly concerning the symptom of widespread pain. Unfortunately, this review will not focus on the medication and treatment of the diseases in question, and for that information other sources are recommended.
