This thesis examines the role of Enterprise Architecture (EA) maturity in realizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) value in manufacturing. In practice, many AI initiatives succeed at the pilot stage but fail to scale into widely deployed solutions, therefore the aim of this study is to determine whether EA maturity explains these differences across organizations. The theoretical framework integrates enterprise architecture, digital transformation, and AI economics literature, emphasizing that technological value depends on organizational capabilities and coordination. Empirically, the study applies a quantitative firm‑year research design based on publicly available secondary data. EA maturity is operationalized using a composite proxy index, while AI outcomes are measured using an operational value index. The results reveal a strong positive relationship between EA maturity and realized AI value (r = 0.828; p < 0.001). Higher EA maturity is associated with a greater likelihood of scaling AI initiatives, sustaining results over the long term, and reducing variability of outcomes. The findings suggest that EA maturity functions as a key condition enabling the transition from experimental AI initiatives to stable operational value creation in manufacturing environments. |
