Abstract [eng] There is a considerable amount of research data available on plant circadian rhythms and the cell cycle as separate fields. However, the relationship between plant circadian rhythms and cytogenetic parameters has not been sufficiently studied or firmly established. This master’s thesis aims to investigate whether there is a correlation between the circadian rhythm and cytogenetic parameters in the meristem cells of onion (Allium cepa L.) roots. Four experiments were conducted: 1) To determine the optimal harvest time for onion roots based on plant growth duration, root length, and the type of water used; 2) To compare the lengths of onion roots of different diameters based on plant growth duration; 3) To determine the relationships between circadian rhythms and cytogenetic parameters in onion meristem cells as a function of time of day, duration of cultivation, the starting point of root removal, and environmental cues; 4) To evaluate the relationships between circadian rhythms and cytogenetic parameters in onion meristem cells based on the duration of the day, the duration of plant growth, and environmental signals when the onion’s circadian rhythm is synchronized under laboratory conditions. Based on the results obtained, it was determined that the optimal time to start harvesting onion roots is 36 hours after planting, and it was also found that tap water is more suitable for growing onions. It was determined that a diameter of 25 mm to 29 mm is most suitable for growing edible onions (Allium cepa L.). It was found that for edible onions (Allium cepa L.), the starting point for root cleaning and iniciation is around 10:00 a.m., and the times for harvesting onion roots are 36 hours later (10:00 p.m.), 48 (10:00), 52 (14:00), 56 (18:00), and 60 (22:00) hours of growth from the starting point of bulb cleaning – showed the strongest correlation between the circadian rhythm and cytogenetic correlations (𝑅^2=0,4815). It was found that common onion (Allium cepa L.), which was synchronised under laboratory conditions, showed a weak correlation between the circadian rhythm and cytogenetic parameters (𝑅^2=0,2122). The results obtained do not fully confirm that there is a link between circadian rhythms and cytogenetic parameters. However, this is an excellent starting point for further research.
