Abstract [eng] Naraškevičiūtė, E. (2026). The path to suicide attempt: a thematic analysis of patients’ experiences. Master‘s thesis. Vilnius: Vilnius University, p. 90. Although risk/protective factors of suicidal behavior are well studied, clinical practice needs to understand how suicidal thoughts approach action in lived experience. Participants: four post-attempt ASSIP participants. ASSIP interview videos were analyzed by reflexive thematic analysis. Results: before the attempt, loneliness, helplessness, inadequacy, psychological pain, dissociation, and ambivalence predominated. Transition from thoughts to actions was facilitated by accumulating difficulties, painful and provocative experiences, access to information, alcohol use, relationship difficulties, and inhibited by connection. This deepens understanding of suicidal crisis in Lithuania. Aim: to understand patients’ psychological state and its changes before an attempt. Questions: what psychological states predominated before suicidal behavior? What factors facilitated or inhibited the transition from suicidal thoughts to actions?
