Abstract [eng] Psychological wellbeing, substance use, and attitudes towards substance use among adult children of alcoholics. Emilija Dutkevičiūtė, Master’s thesis, Vilnius, Vilnius university, 2026, 79 p. adult children of alcoholics are in a risk group of people to have worse wellbeing and have substance use problems. However, research shows that some people from this group are not in risk of such issues. And their attitudes towards substance use are little-researched and there’s minimal information about it, the relationship between all these aspects are unknown. Research sample: a total of 117 adult children of alcoholics participated. 98 were women, 19 were men, age’s went from 20 to 57. Research methods: for psychological wellbeing assessment were measured by DASS-21 depression, anxiety, stress scales as well as resilience scale for adults RSA. For risky alcohol intake AUDIT-C was used. And to measure attitudes towards substance use the created measurement by the authors was used. Spearman correlation, Student T test as well as Mann-Whitney U tests, logistic regression and mediation were used for the result findings. Research results: it has been determined that adult children of alcoholics have high resilience levels, good wellbeing results, little to not risky substance use habits and have negative attitudes towards substance use. Positive relationship has been determined between psychological wellbeing and attitude towards substance use. It has been determined that attitudes towards substance either partially or fully mediate relationship between psychological wellbeing and risky substance use. Conclusions: adult children of alcoholics’ attitudes towards substance use are positively related with psychological wellbeing as well as risky substance use. Adult children of alcoholics’ attitudes towards substance use can predict their risky substance use, meaning if the attitude towards substance uses is positive, chances of risky substance use also grows higher.
