Endometriosis is a progressing chronic disease associated with abnormal growth of tissue similar to uterus mucosa outside of the uterus (LAGD, 2012). Endometriosis negatively affects women's life quality related to women’s health (La Rosa et al., 2020) and their psychological state (Facchin et al., 2017) that affects everyday life, emotional and psychological state and other aspects of life. Self-compassion, illness perception are factors referred to better life quality of women with endometriosis. The aim of this study - to evaluate how self-compassion, illness perception, variables of psychological state (anxiety, depression, stress) are associated with women with endometriosis life quality rate. Data from 187 women aged from 19 to 57 with endometriosis were analyzed. Data was collected through non-probability purposive sampling through distributed online questionnaires in closed Facebook support group „Endometriozė”. Instruments used in the study were: short form health questionnaire 36 (RAND-36), depression, anxiety and stress scale -21 (DASS-21); self-compassion short form (SCS-SF) and brief illness perception questionnaire (Brief IPQ). Parametric and non-parametric statistical analysis methods were used for data analysis. The study found associations between health-related quality of life, psychological well-being and sociodemographic and disease-related characteristics.The significance of self-compassion and illness perception components in predicting health-related quality of life in women with endometriosis was also established. |
