Abstract [eng] Nursing administrators experience significant psychological burden due to high responsibility, intensive workload, and constant emotional strain, which may lead to the development of chronic fatigue. Chronic fatigue is associated with poorer well-being, reduced work efficiency, increased risk of errors, and negative impact on the quality of healthcare services and organizational outcomes. Although leadership style is associated with psychological well-being, its relationship with chronic fatigue experienced by nursing administrators has not been sufficiently studied. Aim. To determine the relationship between leadership style and chronic fatigue among nursing administrators. Objectives. To identify the leadership styles applied by nursing administrators, to evaluate the level of chronic fatigue experienced by nursing administrators, and to determine the associations between leadership style and chronic fatigue among nursing administrators. Methods. A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted. The study was carried out from February to April 2026 in secondary and tertiary healthcare institutions in the city of Vilnius. Data were collected using an electronic questionnaire, including a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire, and the Occupational Fatigue, Exhaustion and Recovery Scale. Data analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics software, applying descriptive statistics and non-parametric statistical methods. Results. The study included 100 nursing administrators, with the largest proportion of respondents belonging to the 51-60 years age group. Most participants had a university master’s degree and more than 20 years of work experience. The transformational leadership style was found to be the most expressed, the transactional leadership style was less expressed, while the passive leadership style was the least expressed. The mean score of chronic fatigue was 49.17. No statistically significant associations were found between leadership style and chronic fatigue. Additionally, chronic fatigue was significantly associated with acute fatigue and intershift recovery scores. Conclusions. The transformational leadership style was the most expressed among nursing administrators, while the level of chronic fatigue was moderate. No statistically significant associations were found between leadership style and chronic fatigue; therefore, the study hypothesis was not confirmed.
