ABSTRACT This study explores the emotional resources that emerge in the process of group art therapy among young adult women experiencing anxiety. The relevance of the topic lies in the fact that anxiety in the lives of young adult women is often associated with a lack of emotional resources, such as difficulties in emotion regulation, issues related to self-esteem, social expectations, and insufficient internal and external social support. Although the role of art therapy in reducing anxiety symptoms has been examined, there is still a lack of research focusing on the emotional resources that emerge within the process of group art therapy and may become meaningful sources of internal and external emotional support for young adult women experiencing anxiety. Keywords: young adult women, anxiety, emotional resources, group art therapy. Aim of the study: To analyse the emotional resources that emerge in the process of group art therapy among young adult women experiencing anxiety. Objectives: • To review the scientific literature on anxiety, the concept of emotional resources in psychology, and the possibilities of applying art therapy when working with individuals experiencing anxiety. • To reveal the experiences of young adult women experiencing anxiety in the process of group art therapy. • To identify and interpret the themes highlighting the emergence of emotional resources in the process of group art therapy through the analysis of interview data and artworks created during therapy. Research methods: A qualitative study was conducted using qualitative methods of data collection and analysis. Data collected through semi-structured interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analysed using thematic analysis. Artworks created during group art therapy were examined using content analysis. Research results: In the process of group art therapy, the following emotional resources emerged: emotional awareness, the ability to stay with and accept emotions, the group as a safe space for reflection and togetherness, and creative expression as an alternative language for emotional expression and awareness. These emotional resources contributed to the strengthening of inner support in young adult women experiencing anxiety. Conclusions: The emotional resources that emerged in the process of group art therapy among young adult women experiencing anxiety were related to emotional awareness, emotional acceptance, the strengthening of emotion regulation, and the formation of inner support. Group togetherness and reflection, as well as creative expression, functioned as important therapeutic conditions that enabled these emotional resources to emerge and contributed to the strengthening of inner support in young adult women experiencing anxiety. . |
