| Abstract [eng] |
Padel tennis has become one of the fastest-growing sports due to its accessibility and social nature. Long-term participation in sport depends on motivation, which is significantly influenced by coaching teaching methods. Studies addressing this issue in the padel tennis context are lacking. Research problem: how do adult padel players perceive their coach's teaching methods and how do these methods relate to their sport motivation? Research object – perceived coaching teaching methods and sport motivation of adult padel players. Hypothesis: problem-solving and initiative-promoting methods will be positively associated with intrinsic motivation, while reproductive methods will be associated with extrinsic motivation expression. Research aim – to reveal the associations between coaching teaching methods and sport motivation among adult padel players. Research objectives: 1) to analyse the theoretical aspects; 2) to determine the expression of teaching methods and their associations with sociodemographic characteristics; 3) to determine the expression of motivation and its associations with sociodemographic characteristics; 4) to reveal associations between teaching methods and motivation. The study employed a questionnaire survey using CUTEMS (Kilic & Ince, 2021) and SMS-I (Pelletier et al., 1995; Grajauskas & Razmaitė, 2017). The sample comprised 153 adult padel players (61.4% female, 67.3% aged 35–45, 69.9% with 1–3 years of experience). Spearman correlational analysis was applied. Participants most frequently perceived their coaches as applying problem-solving (M = 3.41) and reproductive methods (M = 3.39); initiative-promoting methods were perceived less frequently (M = 2.23). The motivational profile was characterised by intrinsic motivation dominance (to know M = 5.86; accomplishment M = 5.82; stimulation M = 5.47), with minimal amotivation (M = 1.52). Reproductive methods correlated with intrinsic motivation (rs = 0.308–0.310; p < .01); initiative-promoting methods correlated with amotivation (rs = 0.365; p < .01). The hypothesis was only partially confirmed. Sociodemographic factors had a limited impact on motivational structure.
