The research object – the development of emotional expression in preschool children through musical activities. The aim of the work – to reveal the opportunities of developing emotional expression in preschool children through musical activities. The study yielded the following conclusions: 1) emotions are interconnected mental and behavioral processes, emotional expression is a part of those behavioral processes, expressed through various verbal and non-verbal forms, and the development of all these processes is emphasized in modern educational paradigms; 2) social and emotional abilities develop rapidly in preschool age, through development of the ability to understand behavioral norms in relationships with others, and with the formation of three main areas of emotional development – emotional understanding, emotional expression, and emotional regulation; 3) emotional expression is facilitated by a daily routine enriched with musical activities, the physical educational environment, music as a phenomenon, and different types of musical activities and is developed through educational methodologies fostering both musical and emotional abilities, such as Orff, Kodaly, and Dalcroze; 4) The results of the empirical study revealed that musical activities in preschool age create opportunities to develop more open, bolder, more diverse and more regulated emotional expression, help children express emotions more constructively, provide children with a safe space to express emotions and create conditions for them to reveal themselves through various verbal and non-verbal forms. |
