Abstract [eng] Hunting played a very important role in the lives of the rulers and nobles of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania – it was much more than just economic necessity. The topic of this dissertation is the research of the phenomenon of hunting in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 15th – 16 th c. (1572): socioeconomic, sociopolitical, mental aspects. For this purpose we make the comparative analysis of the beginning of legitimization of the royal hunting economies in codes of law and various juridical documents in the Holy Roman Empire, The Kingdom of Poland and The Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Also, another tasks are needed to be fulfilled in order to realize the above mentioned purpose. We analyse the structure of the hunting macro-world of the ruler of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 15th – 16 th c., define the tipology of objects which constructed hunting macro-world of the ruler of Lithuania. This dissertation analysis the location of the ruler‘s hunting manors and hunting grounds. Also it depicts, how the micro-world of various hunting officials of the ruler of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania was constructed and what contingent contained it. This dissertation analyse the functions of the ruler‘s hunting officials and investigates what role the hunting incumbencies played in their career. This dissertation analyse the ways of material provision for hunts of the ruler of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and also reveals the role of game hunt in the diplomacy. The research finds mental images of hunting and forests among the noblemen in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 15th – 16 th c. and depicts hunting ceremonial of the ruler of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and reveals the importance of hunting in the context of preparation for war.
