Abstract [eng] Finite element (FE) modeling is widely used to investigate the biomechanics of lumbar intervertebral disc degeneration; however, the predictive reliability of such models remains strongly dependent on material assumptions, particularly for the annulus fibrosus. Due to the absence of standardized experimental benchmarks and the inherent limitations of biological tissue testing, direct validation of disc material models is often infeasible. In this context, sensitivity analysis provides a critical alternative framework for assessing model robustness, parameter influence, and internal consistency. The present study extends previous investigations of degeneration-dependent loading strategies by focusing on the sensitivity of nucleus pulposus mechanical response to different constitutive descriptions of the annulus fibrosus.
