United Kingdom guidelines for the management of acute pancreatitis, commissioned by the British Society of Gastroenterology (1997–1998) and IAP guidelines (W. Uhl et al., 2002) for the surgical management of acute pancreatitis are reminded. Both guidelines are useful in clinical practice, because different accents are emphasized there. The guidelines should form the basis for audit studies. |
