Abstract [eng] Master thesis was aimed at creating a model of social worker competence development based on the analysis of the competence structure of this specialist. Problematic research questions: What kind of competence (social, professional and personal) structure of social worker providing social care services for children with disabilities is being updated in Lithuania and Ukraine? What are the possibilities of developing these social worker competences in Lithuania and Ukraine? The study is based on a systematic approach to methodology that combines and integrates quantitative and qualitative research methods. The following research methods were chosen and applied in the research: theoretical analysis, quantitative questionnaire survey, semi-structured interviews. In the analysis of data, statistical methods (descriptive statistics) and qualitative-interpretation (content analysis) methods were applied. 71 social workers working in community or community-based care services for children with disabilities and group living homes for children with disabilities. Two persons participated in the exploratory survey, 51 persons in the questionnaire survey, 9 persons were interviewed in Ukraine and 9 in Lithuania. The results of quantitative research in Lithuania allowed to identify the existing structure of competence of social worker providing community care services for children with disabilities. In qualitative research, the outlook for the competence structure of a social worker providing community-based care services to children in Ukraine and Lithuania with disabilities was revealed.
