Abstract [eng] |
The aim of this paper is to analyze the involvement of Pentecostal theology and religious practices into the political sphere of theoretically secular states, arguing that Pentecostals are actually (re)constructing the politics on theological grounds. Such pentecostalization of politics implicates a new, theologico – political, era in the Global South, which leads to the increasing tension between liberal West and rigidly conservative South. The research is based on C. Schmitt's "political theology" concept which is combined with an innovative V. Kabalkova idea of "international political theology". Such a combination is both the conceptual framework and methodological tool to investigate Pentecostal theology and religious practices and their involvement in politics in two biggest and most influential countries from two different continents of the Global South - Nigeria and Brazil. |
