Abstract [eng] The purpose of this master’s work was to elucidate the issues of the distinction of contracts for work from sale and purchase contracts, service contracts and the contracts for the order of an author’s work, which manifest in the respective contract’s regulation, practical application, or interpretation. These goals were achieved by explaining the contract’s conception and distinguishing the qualifying features of these contracts, which were used to present the distinction basis of these contracts. While analysing the issues of distinction of contracts for work from sale and purchase contracts, the focus was on the ancillary distinction basis of these contracts set in the civil code of the Republic of Lithuania. The application and interpretation of this rule was also explained according to the 1980 United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, which has an analogous distinction basis for these contracts. In the case of distinction of service contracts from contracts for work, the interpretation of service contracts, by which the parties agree to achieve a certain goal, is presented and the possibility, set in the civil code of the Republic of Lithuania, to apply the rules governing contracts for work, for service contracts, is analysed, also evaluating its soundness. Finally, in the final part of this work, the analysis of the contracts for the order of an author’s work, in the context of distinction from contracts for work, is presented, which has not been exhaustively analysed in the legal doctrine of Lithuania. Based on this study, the possibilities of the application of the rules, governing contracts for work, to contracts for the order of an author’s work, are presented. Furthermore, the possible classification of these contracts is presented. After performing the study, specified above, the findings, related to the regulation, application, and interpretation of contracts for work and similar contracts, are presented.
