Abstract [eng] Short-Term Internet-Based Self-Help Intervention User Expectations: Planned Involvement and Expected Outcomes before They Start Using the Program. Joana Kvederavičiūtė. Vilnius. Vilnius University. Year 2018. 71 pages. Positive pretreatment expectations encourage contacting a specialist of mental health, increase involvement in the process of the provided psychological treatment and help to achieve better improvement of the psychological condition. For these reasons, it is very important to analyze actions related to pretreatment expectations. Thus, the objective of this thesis is to study correlation between psychological state, motivation, available experience of psychological consultancy and psychiatry and pretreatment expectations before using Internet-based intervention: expected change in the well-being and anticipated involvement. A total of 150 participants, consisting of 108 women (72%) and 42 men (28%), were included in the data analysis of this study. Participant age ranged from 18 to 76 years, with a mean age of 32,95 (SD = 10,60). The majority of the participants (69,8%) had a university education. In the correlation study the following instruments were used: a short Lithuanian version of a new model of adaptation disorders (ADNM-8), WHO - 5 Well-being index and a questionnaire for assessment of Internet-based intervention for expectations and motivation of users and their behavior of visiting mental health specialist. The study found that higher expected involvement was predicted by visiting mental health specialist, failure to obtain a traditional psychological help and lower expected well-being in the future. Further the study found that a bigger expected change of the well-being was predicted by preoccupation with a stressful event, visiting mental health specialist and the absence of divorce and financial problems.
