The Factors of Illness Perception among Parents of Children with Developmental Disorder The aim of this study is to determine the main factors of illness perception among parents of children with developmental disorder. 46 respondents, aged 21 – 58, took part in the research. During this study, Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) (Goodmano 1997) was applied as wall as The Revised Illness – Perception Questionnaire (IPQ – RA) (Anbar, Dardennes ir kt., 2010) and Adherence to Treatment Questionnaire to assess the factors of illness perception among parents. The results revealed that there is a statistically significant correlation between the education of parents, consequences, and chronic illness perception. Parents who are out of work due to the children illness tend to perceived it as more controlled. The hyperactivity, emotional, and main difficulties of children with correlates with parents perception about consequences, treatment control, chronic, and cyclical illness. It was also found that demographics variables and some results of Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire could be prognotstic variables about parents illness perception. |
