Abstract [eng] |
The local treatment of leg ulcer is based on moist retainment principles. The success of ulcer care depends on how the method applied provides the optimal microclimate for physiological processes in the ulcer Most effective in this aspect is the method of occlusive dressing. Among occlusive dressings, hydrocolloids take a particular place. They protect the ulcer from mechanical, thermal and chemical trauma, do not irritate the surrounding skin and stimulate autolysis, antimicrobial tissue activity and reepithelialization. After introducing hydrocolloids the rates of ulcer healing increased and the expenses of the treatment subsided. Most of chemical antimicrobial agents were found to impede the physiological processes and therefore the application of some antiseptics were rejected while others significantly reduced concentrations. |
