Abstract [eng] |
Invasive plants are increasingly threatening the growth of biodiversity by contributing to the displacement of native plant species from local forest ecosystems. In Radviliškis, invasive plants are spreading in the town territory covering the spaces for plantations under favourable growth conditions. The present master thesis analyzes distribution of invasive plants in Radviliškis forest and the town territory. The object of the work is invasive plants. The aim of the thesis is to assess the invasive plant spread in Radviliškis forest and the town territory. Theoretical and empirical research methods have been used for the research. Field studies have been conducted using a route visual observation method. The invasive plants found in Radviliškis forest and in the town territory were located using a GPS receiver. The morphometric characteristics of invasive plants assessed during the study: the height of the plant, the number of the stems in woody plants (previously cut and present during the study), the diameter of the stem. Also, in both explored territories, the assessment of the frequency of fruit formation in ashleaf maple and the photographic fixation of the changes in fruit maturity of the said plant in the town territory were conducted. The assessment of the invasive plant spread in Radviliškis forest and in the town territory in 2018 revealed 3 species of invasive plants in the forest: ashleaf maple, Canadian goldenrod and small-flowered touch-me-not. In the territory of the town, 4 invasive plant species were found: ashleaf maple, Canadian goldenrod, false acacia, and daisy fleabane. The results of the study have shown that the prevailing invasive plant species in Radviliškis forest and in the town territory in the group of woody plants is ashleaf maple, the most common species in the group of herbaceous plants found in Radviliškis forest is Canadian goldenrod, while daisy fleabane is prevailing in the town territory. The evaluation of the diameter of maple stems growing in Radviliškis forest territory revealed that its stands were made up of individuals with smaller diameters compared to the larger diameter of the ashleaf maples and false acacias found in the town territory. In order to control the invasive plants detected, it is recommended to use mechanical means in Radviliškis forest and to apply mechanical and, if necessary, chemical measures of eradication in the town territory. The methods of eradication must be rational, effective and as environment friendly as possible. |
