Abstract [eng] The Master's thesis is aimed to review the peculiarities of the dialects of the residential place names in Pakruojis district. Place names were collected from the population census register in 1923, 1976 years and map of northern High Lithuania for 2001 years. In total, 1281 residential names were collected, dialect features were recorded in 83 titles. All identified 88 cases are divided into 14 groups by pronunciation and accents. All phonetic dialect peculiarities are recorded in the oldest source of the registry because residential names are written how inhabitants pronounced it. Sounds are the most common language units, their uniqueness is the most noticeable. Sounds are the most common recurring language units, their uniqueness is the most noticeable. The analysis has shown that the most common dialectal features are the shortening of unstretched long trunk vowels uo, ie and convergence of longitudinal and foreground vowels of different origins. Other recorded dialect features: narrowing of the dwarfs of the nosebleeds, shortening of the long vowels of the uncut position, widening of the unrolled e, *le hardening, more open and closed pronunciation of short vowels, elongated u., i., parallels with long lasting, u·, i·. An interest was taken to the Lithuanian administrative division in 1918–2007 years and assignment of Pakruojis district residential places to administrative units. It was discovered that the administrative division of the country was varied and dependent on the decisions of the occupier. Pakruojis district in 1918 belonged to Šiauliai county, in 1923 – to Šiauliai, Panevėžys and Biržai counties. In 1940 areas of Pakruojis belonged to Šiauliai County, in 1941-1943 it was assigned to Šiauliai region and šiauliai County. In 1950-1960 Linkuva district was founded and it separated Pakruojis district. According to the current administrative division Pakruojis district belongs to Šiauliai county.
