Abstract [eng] In this prospective study, 90 adult participants: 44 patients with mild acute pancreatitis; 30 patients with chronic pancreatitis; and 16 healthy individuals were examined and data received were analyzed. The aim of the study was to assess the changes in portal venous velocities in case of a chronic pancreatitis and mild acute pancreatitis compared to healthy individuals. Parameters of portal venous velocities were measured in the main portal vein and its right and left branches were during abdominal Doppler ultrasound. Parameters of healthy individuals were determined and then compared to the participants with mild acute pancreatitis and chronic stable pancreatitis. Ultrasound examinations were performed three times with three months intervals to evaluate if velocities change after acute pancreatitis relieves, or in the course of chronic pancreatic inflammation. No significant changes in portal venous velocities were found during the acute phase of mild acute pancreatitis, or during the chronic pancreatitis without exacerbations. Portal venous velocities of participants did not change compared to healthy individuals. In addition to this, portal vein velocities did not differ significantly comparing three different examinations within each study group. Portal venous velocities were not associated with complete blood count, biochemical laboratory markers or coagulation parameters as well as arterial blood pressure or heart rate.
