Abstract [eng] In a secularized society Catholic schools remain popular and successful institutions of education. Authors who study them as a phenomenon and the concrete challenges they are faced with, underline the unicity of the school mission as well as the continuity of the charisma in the context of a changed sociocultural context. The tradition of Assumption education is analyzed on the basis of the constructivist approach combined with the philosophy and theology of religious education. The historical research identifies features of Assumption education in the first schools in Europe and mission countries. In order to distinguish the essential elements of Assumption education and to recognize change and continuity in them the case study explores the historical Assumption schools in the world and the present implementation of this paradigm in three schools: in France, Denmark and Lithuania. The study reveals a shift from religion-based education to conventional ethics and from homogeneity to “multi” phenomenon. One can see the adaptability of Assumption education as well as continuity in its orientation to the socium that allow adapting in a context of changing conditions. Charism is a changing phenomenon, so the disappearance of some elements or the emergence of new ones is not a sign that today's Assumption school does not meet its original vision and mission.
