Abstract [eng] The variety and growing complexity of business software applications encourage the search for interoperability solutions. Often applications and their packages that serve different operational functions are not integrated, and sometimes they are not even integrated due to the different manufacturers of these applications. However, applications need to interact to support business processes - data sharing and function fulfillment are the primary purposes of interoperable applications. This study investigates interoperability and integration issues in a dynamic business environment. An interoperability assessment approach is proposed, combining the architecture of autonomic computing technology, enterprise architecture modeling, and business process modeling to evaluate the interoperability capabilities of business applications. The experiment shows how we can evaluate the interoperability of individual applications and how we can compare different applications in a more objective non-biased way using edit-distance methods and latent semantic analysis. This experiment extends the capabilities of application interoperability and integration solutions and allows for an objective and automated evaluation of application syntactical and semantical similarities.
