Abstract [eng] Iatrogenic rectovaginal (proctovaginal) fistula is a rare and difficult complication in the treatment of rectal and gynecological cancers. A variety of procedures have been described to treat this condition, but none of them has become an ideal solution. Graciloplasty is a successful and recommended method of surgery, especially in very complicated cases (in patients after radiotherapy, with local colorectal chronic infection or reccurent fistulas). This article presents a history of one patient treated in our surgical clinic. We give a revew of other authors’ experience with m. gracilis transposition and some material on rectovaginal fistula that may be beneficial for those treating this condition.
