Abstract [eng] Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) causes the clinical syndrome commonly known as infectious mononucleosis (IM). Gastrointestinal manifestations are frequently present. These include abdominal pain, mild elevations of alanine (ALAT) and aspartate (ASAT) aminotransferases and hepatosplenomegaly. Less commonly hepatitis may occur. Severe hepatitis and liver failure have rarely been reported and are mostly related to immunodeficiency syndromes. This article presents two cases of EBV hepatitis in children and literature review of this disease.
