A decade ago new type of business model reinvented the way people shop online, book their holidays or order a ride. Online platforms established in the fields of commerce, entertainment and social media and made up a platform economy with new legal challenges unthinkable at that time and still underestimated. In order to establish fully functioning Digital Single Market European Commission initiated a draft regulation which would regulate such platforms, provide legal certainty and fairness to business users within the EU. The initiative is analyzed in this article. |
