This article is first modest attempt to analyse Lithuanian Statutes (Lietuvos Statutai) of XVI century not only from legal history, but, first of all, from Lithuanian constitutional law perspective. The attention here is given to the texts of all three Lithuanian Statutes. The article is divided into two parts: the first is dealing mostly with Lithuanian Statutes within the concept of hierarchy of norms, while the second part is devoted for attempts in finding certain characteristics of modern constitutionalism into the text of the Statutes, first of all, parliamentarism and human rights. The article ends with some conclusions for science of Lithuanian constitutional law. |
