Abstract [eng] |
The present work is an analysis of integrated subject and foreign language teaching methods –group and pair work. Drawing on foreign language teaching methods and experience, the work emphasizes the advantages and disadvantages of this method, as well as the importance of this non-traditional method (it encourages student independence, logical thinking and active participation in the process of education). The efficiency of such a lesson and acquisition of integrated subject material are enhanced too. Scholars who investigate the bilingual teaching method (EMILE in French) note that one of its drawbacks is the lack of teaching and methodological material, while preparing of such a material in cooperation with a language teacher is one of the key success criteria. In addition, not all subject teachers have sufficient linguistic communication competence, thus work in the non-traditional environment becomes a challenge, especially when a teacher has to combine two languages – the target and the native. A small study carried out with a CLIL French language group has demonstrated that the majority of teachers employ pair/group work as it implies a faster involvement of students and develops cooperation and communication skills. |
