Abstract [eng] Leadership is a purposeful mutual learning in a community. Learning and leadership are closely related: student both learn and become leaders in a school that achieved a high level in leadership. In order to get educated, develop and learn the students need the environment, in which people can participate in leadership activities, which leads to a change in their worldview, higher morality and courage to solve complicated issues (Lambert, 2011). Leadership is the ability to help other to learn, to learn from others and influence other people‘s learning. L. Lambert, 2011 The relevance and novelty of the topic. One of the challenges, that the world faces in the 21st century, is a lack of leaders. „To become a leader means to become an authentic personality, to comprehend your personal abilities and possibilities“ (West-Burnham, Ireson, 20102). The leadership is related to creativity, the ability to think critically, being proactive, innovative, learning constantly, etc. It isn‘t a natural gift, it has to be learned, therefore, education plays an important role. The development of leadership abilities should be a continuous uninterrupted process, which starts since childhood. The issue of the research. In students' education at music schools the main attention is focused on achievements in subjects related to musical activities as well as the development of artistic abilities, thus, other matters significant for the personality‘s maturity often are left unattended. The education of leadership abilities is also lacking. Therefore, it is of importance to analyze the assumptions of leadership abilities‘ manifestation and the possibilities to improve them in order to pursue success in versatile people‘s education. The objective of the research: is to reveal peculiarities of expression of leadership capabilities of principal musical education programme‘s students at music schools and predict improvement possibilities at a specific educational institution. To reach an objective, the methods of the analysis of theoretical and methodological sources, the descriptive analysis of documents‘ content and partially structured written interviews were employed. 16 musical education teachers and 14 principal musical education programme‘s students participated in the research. Main conclusions of the empirical research. The analysis of scientific and methodological sources revealed that the type of transformative leadership expands the expression of leadership capabilities of musical education programme‘s students and has a significant role in the school‘s environment. Descriptive analysis of documents‘ content helped perceive in which ways theoretical provisions stipulated in local documents, the manifestation and development of leadership capabilities are important in a specific educational institution and how they are evaluated within school‘s legislation. Partially structured interviews and the qualitative analysis of the collected data contributed in exposing that teachers put more emphasis on academic achievements in music-oriented subjects throughout the activities carried out at the music school. Leadership-like capabilities are manifested during them. The development of leadership abilities is more like a natural consequence of ongoing processes rather than a well-planned and purposefully implemented objective. In order to improve expression of leadership capabilities it is recommended to consider the model of transformative leadership and to apply the possibilities of self-direct learning in the educational curriculum.
