Abstract [eng] |
The article presents data of the complex empirical research on stress of pedagogues of Lithuania. The design of the research is based on various information sources and methods. The main method is teachers’ quantitative questionnaire employing original standardised questionnaire (N(respondents)=961; N(indicators)=622). Subsidiary methods are: a) five group interviews with teachers (N(respondents)=45); b) the analysis of the discourse in pedagogues’ professional press (2005-2008, 77 articles); c) expert assessment of teacher training and continuous qualification programmes. It was found that: 1) occupational stress in the teacher community of Lithuania is expressed relatively substantially; 2) neither studying nor working teachers are prepared to face occupational stress practically; 3) as to coping with stress, at least part of teachers learn it by autodidactics, from experience, from life. The carried out empirical research provides with quite much diagnostic information about factual manifestation of occupational stress of teachers of Lithuania and also enables to hypothesize recommendations at macro, organisational and individual levels how to reduce teachers’ occupational stress. |
