Abstract [eng] Topic relevance and novelty. With the popularity of student testing in the world, early diagnostic assessment in the 2nd grade was started in Lithuania. In educating students, feedback is especially important in determining the knowledge they have acquired. Both the student and his parents, the primary school teacher and the head of the school expect good learning outcomes for the student. A comprehensive report provides results for students, but they do not always live up to expectations. Based on the results of diagnostic tests and purposeful work with students, the quality of primary education can be improved. Research problem. How can primary school teachers and school leaders improve the quality of primary education based on the results of diagnostic tests? Research object: improving the quality of primary education based on the results of diagnostic tests. Research aim - to theoretically and empirically investigate the possibilities of improving the quality of primary education based on the results of diagnostic tests. Tasks: 1. To analyze the scientific literature by revealing the concept of the quality of primary education and the peculiarities of diagnostic testing in education. 2. To identify opportunities for improving the quality of primary education based on the results of diagnostic tests. 3. To examine the attitude of primary school teachers and school leaders towards diagnostic assessment and the use of diagnostic test results. 4. To determine the value of diagnostic test results in improving the quality of primary education. Research methodology and methods. This work is based on the ideas of social constructivism, the European Global Quality Assurance Model, the State Progress Strategy “Lithuania 2030”, the provisions of general and education management theorists on the quality of education, its evaluation and improvement. Theoretical, empirical and statistical research methods were applied. The study involved 152 primary school teachers and 30 school principals from various parts of Lithuania. The strategy of quantitative and qualitative research was chosen for the research. Questionnaire survey method was used. The most important empirical conclusions. The study found that although primary school students participate in early diagnostic assessment in grade 2, the improvement in primary education based on test results is partially ongoing. Although school leaders agree and voluntarily involve students in diagnostic assessment, research data show that not all primary school teachers see the value of diagnostic assessment. Some primary school teachers say they know the abilities of the students and do not receive new feedback. Another part of primary school teachers actively works with the received information, analyzes it, provides recommendations to students and their parents, adjusts the further learning process of students and introduces new teaching / learning methods. Based on the results of diagnostic tests, school leaders improve the primary education plan, provide opportunities for improving teachers' competencies, ways to help students, and cooperate with primary school teachers, students and their parents.
