Lithuanian and Russian anecdotes are analyzed in the article. The content analysis of anecdotes is based on the theoretical ideas that reveal the functions of humor, such as social cohesion, correction, preservation of norms, tension relief, social control, resistance and defense. The analyses of the anecdotes presents the realities of students life in an academic environment. It gives deeper insight into student subculture as well as draws conclusions on the functions of anecdotes about students. Such functions as social cohesion, correction and preservation of norms are found in the analysis of Russian anecdotes. The analysis of Lithuanian anecdotes reveal cohesive and tension relieving functions as well as the function of self-expression. |
