Abstract [eng] This article discusses pupils’ attitudes to values that are developed and fostered in family. – There is a wide spectrum of values that dominate and various authors identify them differently: one sees them as a kind of public attitudes, while others define them as the spiritual, moral issues. This article also deals with a very topical issue in today’s society, i.e. the vanishing of traditional values among young people: social change is forming warped attitudes to real values in adolescents. Great attention is paid to the concept of family and its functions. The role of the family is identified as the one that has the most importance in the child’s socialization. The second part of the article is the research, which was performed in order to ascertain not only pupils’ attitudes to the values developed and fostered, but also how they understand the institution of family, the concept of value, as well as which values are currently important for them and which are underestimated. The research showed that pupils have individual attitudes to the moral values developed and fostered, but only part of them take these values over from their families.
