Abstract [eng] Physical fitness of volleyball players is a sum of physical capacities and their more complex expression, i.e. complex abilities (jumping, start speed). Volleyball players’ physical fitness is closely related to other fields of volleyball training, first of all, with technical, tactical and match-focused training. Contemporary volleyball requires fast, detailed perception, focusing of attention, speed of reaction; it also requires exceptional exactness and differentiation of moves. This field of research problems presupposed the research; the aim of it was to estimate the relations between physical fitness and technical preparedness in a high performance team of volleyball players. The research sample consisted of 17 volleyball players from the club “Elga-Master Idea” at Šiauliai Sport School “Dubysa” (n = 17), champions and prize winners of the Baltic Volleyball League, Lithuanian Youth and Adults Championships. The following methods have been applied in the research: testing (30 m run from a standing start, jumps on a contact track, test of 10 x 5 m shuttle run), expert assessment of players’ technical fitness, correlative and regressive analyses. It was found out that the results of the height of jump without arm swing (r = -0.542) and dexterity (r = 0.433) were meanly related to volleyball players’ rating. The indices of the height of jump with arm swing (r = -0.368) and relative spring (r = -0.398) correlated weaker with the rating. There was almost no relation between volleyball players’ rating and fastness parameters: Pearson correlation coefficient varied from 0.022 to 0.058.
