The paper deals with business organisation-higher education institution collaboration and seeks to identify preconditions for organisational changes (mutual benefit, long-short term collaboration, trust, partnership). According to Cibulskiene et al. (2010), scientific publications on business organisation-higher education institution collaboration primarily discuss expectations, objectives, roles and commitments of the collaborating partners, arising problems, forms and mechanisms of collaboration. Collaboration happens in various contexts but no studies on the preconditions for collaboration have been found. The paper focuses on collaboration in the context of organisational changes, interventions. Research aim: to identify preconditions for collaboration that lead to organisational changes and links among those interventions. Research problem is put in the following questions: What are preconditions for business entity-education institution collaboration? How preconditions for collaboration are linked with groups of interventions? Research methodology. The paper presents results of theoretical research. Qualitative content analysis and generalisation of scientific publications were used. Literature on organisational development was systematised, main preconditions for collaboration were identified, organisational elements and groups of interventions were compared. Result interpretation was based on summarised statistics in reports and databases (Dutta, Mia, 2011; The Lithuanian Department of Statistics, 2011a, 2011b, 2012; List of countries..., 2012) and the publication of two authors of this paper (Bersenaite, Saparnis, Saparniene, 2012) where the typology of organisational changes, aspects of responsibility for changes, communication of changes.
