Abstract [eng] |
One of the most common epithets of the Uprising of 1863 is: the last military fi ght of the former Republic of the Both Nations against Imperial Russia with the aim to restore political independence of the Republic. A rebellion is an armed fi ght but not each armed fight is called a war. A war, especially when it lasts longer, usually undergoes more than one phase. An uprising also undergoes several phases. Depending on a phase different combat tactics are used. One of the most common tactics is guerrilla tactics. Partisan fi ghts may be referred to as hunting and trapping and it is important who the hunter and what the loot are. It should be taken into account that anti-guerrilla tactics may be used against partisans. The aim of the paper is to identify whether the Uprising of 1863 in Lithuania may be referred to as guerrilla warfare, how and what guerrilla tactics were used in the North of Lithuania. |
