So far no system of education has been created in Lithuania. Therefore, Montessori, Waldorf and other educational systems created abroad are adapted and used in the country’s educational practice. The group of researchers of the Faculty of Education Studies of Siauliai University created a unique system of education, which was implemented thanks to the project financed by the European Social Fund “Implementation of Self-Directed Learning Organisation Model as a Non-Traditional Form of (Self-)Education, Applying Education Orientated to Innovative Solutions, in the Schools of Northern and Western Lithuania Regions”1. The mission of this system is development of competency of learners’ learning to learn as the basic competency for lifelong learning and learning for life. |
