Abstract [eng] The present work discusses the influence of the avant-garde cinema of the early 20th century on further developments in visual culture and digital technology. The author analyses the examples of German abstract cinema, which determined the philosophical, theoretical and aesthetical preconditions of this exceptional genre of art. The principles of cinematic iconography and its connection with dadaism and futurism of those times are revealed by discussing the works of V. Eggeling, H. Richter, W. Ruttmann ir O. Fischinger. The work also discusses how strategies of avant-garde cinema got established in the commands of software and metaphors of media art. What once were exceptions in traditional cinema, now have become normative techniques of digital cinema. Therefore, instead of witnessing the unseen manifestations of the future, in our euphorical encounters with the newest digital visualisations of electronic music we find the boldest dreams of avant-garde cinema of the early 20th century.
