The analysis of air pollution and noise level was carried out in Šiauliai city, in the environment of 6 apartment buildings on Gegužių Street segment between Tilžės Street and S. Dariaus ir S. Girėno Street. Analysis of air pollution with carbon and nitrogen oxides revealed that quantities of these pollutants did not exceed the limit values set for the living environment and varied from 0.08 to 0.21 of the limit value. Compared to air pollution in the central area of the city the concentration of carbon and nitrogen oxides in area of Gegužių Street was lower. The pH, electrical conductivity, sulphate ion concentration in the snow samples collected in Gegužių Street area in February varied from 2.0 to 7.8 mg/l and comparison to the average value in the city demonstrated that this street did not exceed the average pollution level in the city. The maximum noise level at evening and morning rush hours exceeded the limit values by 7 to 12 dBA at all locations where noise level was measured and which were 22-23 meters away from the street. Equivalent noise level was exceeded in the area of Gegužių Street 13: permitted equivalent noise level in this area exceeded 1 dBA. |
