| Abstract [eng] |
The paper deals with air quality in Tauragė town. Urban air test sites were selected by considering the heaviness of traffic on the busiest streets of the town and the influence of unpaved streets on dustiness. Samples after the rain were taken in the same places for comparison. It was found that particulate matter concentration limit values were exceeded the most often at the busiest streets and the unpaved streets. No exceedings were found during research done after the rain and at higher wind speeds, therefore we conclude that particulate matter concentrations depend on atmospheric conditions. In order to improve the situation regarding air pollution in Tauragė town it is recommended to organize the removal of accumulated dirt, to perform street washing and watering in dry weather not only on the main streets but also at the most dusty places, and to speed up the construction of the bypass in order to reduce car traffic in the town. |
